If your days are spent around Sultanahmet's museums and mosques, note that Pera Spa Center is not in that part of town. It is an independent bathhouse on Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Street in Göztepe, Kadıköy, and it is not part of a hotel. The menu covers the traditional Turkish bath with scrub and foam, plus massage in several styles, including Lomi Lomi Nui and medical massage. The place has two separate hammams, and Google lists 4.7 from 241 reviews. It is listed as open every day from 12:00 to 23:30, which suits an evening visit, though the website gives different hours.

What to expect on a first visit

The listed offer is the traditional Turkish bath with scrub and foam, plus classic, Lomi Lomi Nui, foam and medical massage. There are two separate hammams. Whether men and women are separated, whether the building is historic, whether you must reserve and what the prices are: none of this is stated, so ask by phone before you go.

Fitting it into an Old City trip

The centre is in Göztepe, Kadıköy, so plan it as its own outing rather than a break between two sights. Our transport data does not describe a route to Kadıköy, so check the connection on a map. The listing shows 12:00–23:30 daily, which points to the evening after the museums close. The website says 10:00–22:00, so leave generous time before the earlier closing and confirm by phone.

What works well

  • Two separate Turkish baths, so it is not a single shared room
  • Massage choices go beyond the classic: Lomi Lomi Nui, foam and medical massage are listed
  • Open until 23:30 every day according to the listing, which leaves room for an evening after sightseeing

Worth knowing first

  • It is in Kadıköy, far from Sultanahmet, so the trip eats into your sightseeing day
  • Opening hours conflict (listing 12:00–23:30, website 10:00–22:00), and only a phone number is given for booking
  • Turkish bath
  • Scrub and foam
  • Massage
