For a first-time visitor based in Sultanahmet, this is the odd one out: a hotel spa inside the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti, on Silahşör Street in Şişli, well away from the old-city sights. It is a modern hotel amenity, not a historic hamam. Google shows 4.8 from about 25,000 reviews, but it is unclear whether that rating describes the spa or the hotel as a whole. The site could not be reached, so the facilities, hours, prices and whether non-guests are admitted are all unconfirmed. If a traditional bathhouse experience is what you want, this is probably not the place.

First time here: what to expect

This is a spa within a hotel, so expect a hotel-style facility rather than a historic bathhouse. Whether it has a pool, sauna, steam room, hamam or massages is not confirmed, and neither are the women's/men's sections or mixed use. Hours and prices are not stated. Ask the hotel whether non-guests can enter and whether you need to book.

Fitting it into an Old City trip

The hotel is in Bomonti, Şişli, outside the Sultanahmet–Beyazıt area, so plan it as a separate trip rather than a break between mosques and museums. T1 tram and the M2 metro (Vezneciler, Şişhane, Taksim) are on our transport list, but how to get from them to the hotel is not covered here, so ask the hotel for directions. Opening hours are unknown, so confirm a time slot before you set out.

What works well

  • Located inside a full-service hotel, so it may suit anyone already staying at or visiting the Hilton Bomonti.
  • Very high Google rating (4.8), though it may refer to the hotel rather than the spa.
  • Modern setting, which can be an easy alternative if you are not after a historic bathhouse.

Worth knowing first

  • Not a traditional hamam, and far from Sultanahmet and the old city.
  • Services, hours, prices and non-guest access are all unconfirmed.
  • Inside a hotel
