If you're staying around Sultanahmet, Büyük Hamam is a trip across the Golden Horn to Kasımpaşa, in the Camiikebir area on Bülent Demir Street. It is a hamam in the plain sense, with no other listed features. Google rates it 4.2 from 441 reviews. The doors are open from 07:30 to 22:00 every day of the week, which leaves room to fit it around a day of sightseeing. There is no website, so prices, treatments, separate sections and booking rules are not documented here. Plan to ask on the spot.

Your first visit here

The listing only confirms that this is a hamam; services, sections and prices are not stated. Whether you need to book, whether women and men are separated, and whether scrub-and-foam or massage is available are all unknown, so ask before you go or at the entrance. Check the age and history of the building too, as nothing is documented.

Fitting it into an Old City day

Kasımpaşa is in Beyoğlu, on the far side of the Golden Horn from Sultanahmet. To get across, you could take the T1 tram to Karaköy or the M2 metro to Şişhane, then continue towards Kasımpaşa; the exact connection is not covered here, so check a map. Since it opens at 07:30 and closes at 22:00, you could go in the morning before the museums or in the evening after them.

What works well

  • Open every day from 07:30 to 22:00, so it works for an early start or an evening visit.
  • Rated 4.2 on Google across 441 reviews, a sizeable number for a neighbourhood hamam.
  • Located in Kasımpaşa, away from the Sultanahmet crowds, in a residential part of Beyoğlu.

Worth knowing first

  • No website, so prices and the list of services are unknown.
  • Whether there are women's, men's or mixed sections, and whether scrub-and-foam or massage is offered, is not stated.
  • Turkish bath
